The Simplest of Solar Dryers
Living in suburbia, my homeowners' association rules all that I do outside my home. Thus my minimal vegetable garden, fencing, and lack of a clothes line. The iconic image of laundry days past, I am not allowed by the powers that be to put in a clothes line. Yet, alas, while commiserating with a friend about this, she hooked me up to some legislation that may work to my benefit.
According to this article at Tampa Bay.com, the state of Florida prohibits HOAs from banning clothes lines. Perhaps now, all I must do is convince hubby and go shopping. I have a hankering for a retractable model. Any suggestions?

Meanwhile, what's your Earth Day plan? I'll see you soon with more details on mine.

If the neighbors are a little freaked out by a clothesline (a permanent addition to the yard) perhaps they could be gently conditioned to the idea by seeing a nice portable wooden clothes drying rack being used on the patio or deck during the warm months?
Then after awhile of getting used to the concept they would be OK with the clothesline and neighborhood peace would be maintained...
Good idea, Nick, although only 1 neighbor can see my back porch. The irony is that particular neighbor doesn't care. It's the other 160 that do, mainly because the rules say "NO clothes lines". I'll probably go with the gadget I pictured in my advertisement, as it will attach nicely across my porch and not bend any rules. Keeping the peace is always a good thing.
I did get a chuckle out of your comment about the "warm months." With the exception of this past winter, all of our months here in central Florida are warm. Most are HOT. LOL
