Tanner Approves of the Prius
Since the plan has been to buy a Prius hybrid, I still felt that was in the cards for me. I felt a twinge of worry about the recalls, braking problems and Toyota's uncertain future. After making a few calls to dealers, I learned that the all the Prius hybrids on their lots had already been given their "makeover", mechanically speaking.
What was I waiting for? The dealerships are nervous about the loss of their reputation, swiftly wafting away with each nightly news report. Surely they are making deals right now. Well, I was right. They WERE ready to deal. Sleeping snugly on my driveway is a brand new 2010 Prius. Boy howdy, am I going to enjoy sharing the interesting details with you.
The commercials simply don't do this car justice. I don't really know why they aren't advertising all the advanced technology, greener materials and the options for getting even BETTER gas mileage than the reported numbers. I suppose they don't want to oversell and cause customers to begin to feel it can't possibly be true.
Enough babbling. I'm excited, as you might have guessed, to finally have a green-mobile. I've put 66 miles on it in two days--mostly just to convince myself I wasn't dreaming--and the gas gauge just budged, the tiniest little hint of movement. Nighty-nite my sweet Prius. More later....
