Pondering My Journey
My goal with New Kid on the Green Block is to extend the learning experience, both for myself and for you. By separating the organic and the green, I give myself more opportunities to share the things I learn, and you get more information. So, I guess you could say I have learned how to share more of what I am learning.
Another way I am sharing more is with my other blog, All Things Dog Blog. You can probably guess what that one is about, but you may be a tad off. I'm not a dog expert, but I do have three dogs who are relatively well trained, behaved and pleasant to be around--at least for dog lovers.
All Things Dog Blog's goal is to share ways to keep dogs and their owners happy and healthy. Some of the posts there include green living for and with dogs, but many focus more on dog activities, diet, discipline, and the like. I am finding this blog to be a breath of fresh air to write for after a long day of green and organic. It helps me get balance in my writing.
That's not to say that I don't enjoy researching and learning how to live more green or eat healthier--quite the contrary. But for all the things we do with verve, we need to have some things we do with abandon. That's where my dog blog comes in for me. Hopefully, if you love dogs too, you'll find something useful there.
The health benefits of my work have brought many blessings. Nearly three years after my cancer diagnosis, I am still cancer free. I credit much of this success to a huge lifestyle change. Eating organic, adding more fiber and vitamins to my diet, using healthier products in my home and on my body, have all added to the healthier picture I am today than 3 years ago. For those of you who know me, it was a scary time. Nearly 20 pounds underweight, I looked like a 5'10" skeleton, as one of my kids so eloquently stated recently.
Of course, we don't get and stay healthy completely by our diets, household and personal care products. Staying active and involved in things that we enjoy, and with people that we love, puts the icing on the cake.
My family has been a great support to me in this Internet adventure that so surprised them all when I undertook it. Sure; I still have a long way to go. But, already, I have come a long, long way. It has been a profoundly enjoyable journey. Thanks for joining me. I hope you will continue to tag along.
